Meals are usually served in the large open sided Dining Pavilion. The Pavilion has a seating area providing a shady corner retreat to read or just admire the view down the valley. Ellerton has two excellent chefs.
Dinner is a menu of three courses with a choice of a curry or non-curry main course.
Menus at Ellerton vary considerably day to day, and so even a guest staying for 10 days is unlikely to be offered the same dishes twice!
You will see from the sample menus that the curries refer to the main meat or fish curry, this is always accompanied by five or six separate vegetable curries. For vegetarians these provide an excellent range of Sri Lankan dishes.
Breakfast can be taken at any time to suit you. There is always fresh Sri Lankan fruits, cereals, and do try the delicious buffalo curd with the sweet local syrup. We also serve a wide range of cooked breakfasts as well as some Sri Lankan specialities.
After a good breakfast most of our guests choose to have a light lunch, and we offer a selection of salads, omelettes and sandwiches. Of course a more substantial choice is available for those who would like one.
An important aspect of Ellerton is that all drinks, whether alcoholic or soft, and including teas and coffees throughout the day are all included in the bed and breakfast rate. We offer a range of excellent Sri Lankan beers and local spirits including gin, whisky and rum. The stewards can make delicious cocktails too. A choice of imported wine is included with dinner.
