About 20km from Ellerton lies the Hantana and Knuckles Mountain ranges which are considered areas of outstanding natural beauty and loved by walkers and trekkers.
There are many birds, both endemic and migratory to be seen at Ellerton. The Crimson-fronted Barbet and the Ceylon red-backed woodpecker to name just two.
There are board games for all ages; be it Monopoly, jigsaw puzzles, scrabble, cards and chess, jenga and dominos a box full of beads to make jewelry. Of course, one can kick a football or play table tennis.
The Ambuluwewa hill temple is a shrine to all religions. Ambuluwewa is also an area of outstanding biodiversity and is worth a visit just to enjoy the flora and stunning views.

We've stayed at Ellerton for 2 nights and I can begin this review with the statement, that it was definitely not enough! This place is a real paradise! The views are to die for and I just loved to watch the stunning sunsets with the sound of birds and quiet evening chants coming from the Buddhist temple nearby. It was so magical!

A great hotel retreat up in the hills from bustling Kandy. The owners are extremely welcoming and made this a relaxed stay. Our room was big and was at the front overlooking the valley. The food was very good. We loved the swimming pool perched on the hillside. Our only issue was that the bathroom was a bit dated but the owners are new and have a program of refurbishment. Would highly recommend

We had enjoyed for only 2 nights the Ellerton’s bungalows and it was too short when we had to leave! First of all, the very, very, warm welcoming from Iromy, Lucas and the entire Ellerton’s team. Available and always ready to advise us for a visit, arrange a tuk-tuk trip to visit a gentleman factory tea owner, “orange field”, take time to explain about story of SriLanka, organize an outdoor cinema to watch “the beauty and the beast” with our 3 kids

I stayed here for a couple of nights. I wish it could have been longer. Everything about it is perfect. The location, rooms, food, nature, atmosphere, Rooms are so tastefully decorated and huge, Food absolutely top quality. You are high up in the hills with the sounds, the birds, monkeys and other wildlife making it even more perfect. It is only 25 mins or so to Kandy and we went to Nuraya Eliya for the day too. Wonderful to come back to this hidden gem! Luca and Iromi are exceptional hosts. They care so much about everything. Attention to details is superb. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they shared some of the future plans they have for this place which somehow will make it even more beautiful. Whether travelling alone, as a couple, with friends or even if you are a big enough group to take it over completely, I would be very surprised if you didn't say on leaving, that you would definitely return one day.

I think you would be hard pushed to find a more perfect travel experience in Sri Lanka, let alone The world. This is largely due to Owners Luca and iroma who run this beautiful boutique hotel set in the hills of Kandy. They welcome you into their home and share this gem that kind of feels like paradise. From the arrival drinks, looking out over the rolling hills, to a perfect breakfast with local fruit, good coffee and a selection of dishes from eggs to pancakes. We stayed in the newly renovated owners bungalow. Clean, very tastefully decorated incredibly comfortable. Great beds and bathroom.Perfect for us and our two teenage kids. Seperate rooms a balcony overlooking the forest. 3 days did not feel nearly enough.

We stayed for a couple of (rainy!) days last August as part of our trip round the island of Sri Lanka. We received a delightful welcome from the owners, who are somewhat accidental hoteliers having stumbled across the hotel in the course of relocating from Switzerland. The rooms were clean and tidy, if not out and out luxurious, but that is somewhat part of the charm of the place. The food was excellent, and good value, and we rather enjoyed Ellerton as a base for exploring the Kandy area.
